Help! My photo session is coming up and I am not sure what to do!

Thank you for entrusting Kasi and her team to create the best photo session experience for you. We understand that preparing for a photo session can be overwhelming and filled with uncertainties. Whether it's your first time or you've had photo sessions before, we want you to feel comfortable, relaxed, and excited about the memories we'll capture together. Allow us to guide you through some of the common questions and concerns we often hear.

What do I wear? What colours should the family be in?

Selecting the perfect outfit is an essential aspect of your photo session. Our top priority is your comfort and that of your family. Feel free to wear something that reflects your personality and makes you feel your best. If you're comfortable, you'll shine in the photos.

If you're looking for some colour guidance, neutral colours like white, creams, tans, and beiges are timeless and natural choices that won't go out of style. For those who prefer bolder colours, complementary warm tones work wonderfully. If you have any specific ideas or a statement colour in mind, let's discuss, and we'll tailor the best suggestion based on the setting and background.

In regards to shoes - wear flats or minimal chunky heels if we are shooting outdoors. You don't want to be stumbling on uneven ground. If you are concerned because you are short - can I just say, you are perfect as you are. However if you let me know I can shoot different angles that help your legs look longer or we can pose differently so height isn't so prevalent. If we have a longer distance to cross on uneven ground, wear thongs and carry your shoes to change into.

Dressing toddlers, newborns and active children!

There is a few things to be mindful of when dressing kids.

Nappies - If your child is in nappies. The best tops to wear during a shoot are the ones that clip down under the nappy. This stops the nappy ever being seen from above the pant/skirt line. It also helps cover the nappy if they were to sit open legged because let's face it. They are kids, move quick and don't understand privacy just yet. The other thing to consider is a nappy cover or undies of the same colour as the dress to cover the nappy.

Strappy Dresses/Singlets - When putting your child in a dress. Please try it on them first at home, if it is a bit too loose and the straps keep falling off the shoulder try tieing them up at the back. The other thing to be mindful of is if they were to lean forward, does it gape open at the chest?

Shoes - If you are doing a family shoot with us, there is a 99.9% that I will ask the kids to give you a hug, kiss, play peekaboo etc. If it has been raining, the ground is dewy or wet for any particular reason. If you can carry your child to the session you will prefer that over having mud on you hehe. If you have brand new shoes on - be mindful and stickers on the soles.

Headbands/Flower crowns -Accessories like headbands and flower crowns can add charm, but we understand they might not be suitable for every child. We can explore alternatives, such as fancy hair clips, to achieve an equally adorable look.

I don't know how to pose!

Feeling unsure about posing is common, and you're not alone. During the session, we'll provide gentle guidance and create a comfortable environment to capture picture-perfect moments. Remember, you get to review the photos before any edits, and we respect your personal choices and privacy. If you have any specific pose ideas or inspirations, please share them with us in advance or bring them along. Your session is about you, and we're here to make it a reflection of your unique story.
